Azai was one of the prototypes of a secret experiment conducted by Team Galactic. They were trying to figure out if a Pokemon's aura could be manipulated and, through manipulating the aura, the Pokemon could then be manipulated. Anyway, through doing this, they tampered with Azai's genetic structure, seeing if that would do anything to the aura. As a matter of fact, it did. Her aura, which usually spreads throughout a Pokemon's entire body, was focused entirely into her front paws. Occasionally, her paw will flare up in a burst of blue aura. At first, they scared her, but now she has gotten so used to it that she isn't bothered by it anymore. Another drawback to the experiments is that, now, Azai has a split personality. When she's in her 'good' form, she's quiet, out of the way, and prefers to avoid fights. However, when she gets angry enough, she goes into her 'evil' form, which she likes to call Nightmare Mode. In Nightmare Mode, her fur gets darker, the colors on her tails get more vivid, her eyes and the aura that flares up from her paws changes from blue to red, and she breathes red fire, as opposed to blue in her 'good' form. Her speed is doubled in this form, but her defense is halved. Anyway, Azai had always looked different. She had her black fur and her multicolored tails. Her tails change color (however, they don't all change to the same color. There's always at least one tail with a different color) randomly, and, at night, they let off a faint light.
